In an extended nip proess including a stationary support member, a hydraulically actuatable press shoe supported on and extending along the support member and a rotatable counter-roll opposed to and extending along the direction of the press shoe, there is a flexible, tubular press jacket which rotates around the support member and which is sealed so as to be inflatable by air. Before rotation of the counter-roll starts, the press jacket is air inflated and expands to partially wrap around the counte-roll. After rotation of the counter-roll and the press jacket begins, and only after a set minimum velocity has been exceeded, then the press shoe is fluid pressurized against the press jacket. At the time, the air pressure in the press jacket is reduced. Various control devices control the feed of pressure liquid to the press shoe and the feed of air to the press jacket until and then after a minimum speed level is exceeded.

This invention relates to the manufacture of a cylindrical press for paper machines.
The purpose of the invention is to reduce energy for starting the press and ensure reliability of operation.
The drawing schematically shows a press roll with a longitudinal gap, a longitudinal section, of the control valves, the drive elements and the control circuit.
The press roll 1 with a longitudinal gap is mounted on the support 2, at both ends of which there are hollow journal 3 for bearings, 3tH journal with spherical axle box 4 mounted on the frame 5 of the machine. In the groove 6 of the support 2 is located block 7, which, together with the control wheel 8, forms a flat gap. A flexible and waterproof case 9 located around the support 2 passes through this gap (the pressing felt passing through the gap and the paper web transferred by it dried in the pressing zone are not shown). Bearing 2 has a seal 10 located around the block 7. Thus, as a result of supplying the working tool to the groove 6, the block 7 presses the housing 9 to the counter mount 8. In the position shown in the drawing, there is no pressure in the groove 6, so that the block 7 is based on the groove.
Both end ends of the body 9 are clamped in the rotating disk 10. This disk is mounted on a ring 12 by means of a roller bearing 11, which can move in the axial direction, but does not turn on the axles 13. The axial clamping is carried out by means of compression springs 14. O-rings (not shown) are located near the rolling bearings 15. They overlap the inside of the inner cavity 16 formed by the housing 9 and the disks 17. Due to this, as a result of the supply of compressed air, the inner cavity 16 of the housing 9 is filled with compressed air.

For cooling the body 9 and for lubricating the working surfaces of the pad
7, through which the housing 9 slides (when the pad 7 is activated), cooled lubricating oil is supplied to the inner surface of the housing 9. For this purpose, a pump 19, a pipeline 20 for lubrication and an in-line control valve 21 with an electromagnet 22 are provided. The lubricating oil is not only supplied to the ends of the roller 1, but is evenly distributed over the entire width of the machine and supplied to the body 9. Control The opening valve 21 in the initial position (shown in the drawing) is closed and opens only when the solenoid 22 is energized in the operating position. Lubricating oil is collected in the lower part of the inner cavity 16 and discharged by means of a pump 23 and a pipeline 24. A pressure switch 25 is connected to the pipeline 24. This switch, when there is no certain vacuum level in the pipeline 24, outputs an electrical signal to the control line 26. As a result, the relay 27 closes.
A pump 28 with a pressure pipe 29 is provided for supplying pressurized fluid to the cavity (to activate block 7). The relief valve 30 is connected to the control valve 31, which by means of electromagnet 32 can be switched from the idle position (shown in the drawing) to the operating position , connects in the off position the pipeline 33, leading to the cavity, with the evacuation pipe 34, and in the working position with the discharge pipe 29.
For pumping the housing 9, i.e. For supplying compressed air to the internal cavity 16, an air pump 35 is provided, which is connected from the pressure side through the switching valve 36 to the pipeline 37. The switching valve 36 in the off position connects the air pump from its pressure side without throttling to the pipeline 37. By means of an electromagnet 38, it can be switched to the operating position in which the said compound is throttled, so that the pressure in the internal cavity 16 is significantly lower than the initial one.
The current source 39 through the main switch 40 and the relay 27 is connected to the main highway 41, intended for supplying electric power to the electric motor 42, which drives the control valves 8. Between the main switch 40 and the relay 27, a drain 43 is provided from the main highway 41 to supply electric power to the engine M pumps 23, 28 and 35.
The comparator 44 is given a signal characterizing the value of the instantaneous speed n and supplied through the measuring line 45 from the speed meter 46 connected to the engine 42 (the value of the number of revolutions simultaneously characterizes the peripheral speed of the tilt wheel 8 and the housing 9) corresponding to the specified minimum number of revolutions of the front and, therefore, the minimum peripheral speed of the housing 9. If at the time of launching the instantaneous number of revolutions n exceeds the minimum number of revolutions nj, the comparator outputs a control signal, whereby through lines 48-50 are excited electromagnets 32, 38 and 22 and valves 31, 36 and 21 are switched to the switching position.
Pressing the press with a longitudinal gap is performed by closing the main switch 40. As a result of this, since the relay 27 is in the open state, pumps 23, 28 and 35 are actuated. At the same time, pumping out of the lubricating oil located in cavity 16 begins. In addition, air is pumped into the housing 9, whereby the latter comes into contact with the control valve 8 and is in contact with it in width. Block 7 remains unused "because the valve 31 of the switch is still in the off position. Thus, at first, there remains a free gap between the concave working surface of the pad and the inner surface of the housing. The preferred gap size a is determined empirically before the first run by changing the distance between roll axes 8 and 1.

the actuation of the relay 27. Due to this, the contractions 8 are set in motion and, by means of press felt (not shown), set in motion the casing 9. If necessary, in this state, the rotation can be carried out with a minimum speed. Upon subsequent acceleration and reaching the minimum allowable speed, the comparator 44 causes the valves 31, 36 and 21 to switch, which in turn leads to the connection of lubricating oil, which activates the pad 7, and the air pressure in the cavity 16 to decrease.
The switching of the valve 31 can be slowed down with the help of the time relay 51 as compared with the moment of switching the valve 21. It can also be slowed down by means of the relay 52 of the time switching the valve 36 relative to the valve 31. In another embodiment, the valve 36 in the working position can interrupt the pump connection 35 and pipeline 37.
